The Sonoran desert is home to great many medicinal plants. Not only to these plants exist out in the deserts and canyons but also in our backyards.

Throughout the seasons, there are medicinal plants growing around us in urban, rural, and wild places of the Sonoran desert. It simply takes an eye to notice what abundance exists around us.

We can use wild plants for acute symptom relief, to nourish us against common ailments, to strengthen our systems to overcome illness, or enjoy as nourishing and tasty creations.

Join bioregional herbalist and author John Slattery for a discussion of some of the more common and useful wild medicinal plants to be found in our local Sonoran desert.

Taste teas made from these wild plants and begin to learn how to use these potent and friendly medicines in your home on a regular basis.

A book signing for his latest release, Southwest Medicinal Plants, will follow the presentation.

Class is free to all visitors at the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market
